This year the
World Federation for Mental Health (WFMH) has chosen "suicide prevention" as the theme for
World Mental Health Day - 10th October 2019
This day of awareness helps to shine a light on the shockingly high suicide rates within the Construction and Agricultural industries. Both high pressured, often isolated make dominated work environments have experienced above average suicide rates (based on ONS 2011-2015).
Supporting the Industry and Workers
Chartities such as the Lighthouse Club and R.A.B.I work tirelessl to support the mental health and wellbeing of the construction and farming communities, raise awareness and support those in need.
The Lighthouse Club - The Construction Industry Charity has been delivering charitable support since 1956 and run a 24/7 helpline and app which provide vital information and guidance on a range of wellbeing topics including stress, anxiety, depression and suicidal thoughts. R.A.B.I - The Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution has been serving the farming community since 1860. The organisation works with other charities that provide mental health and wellbeing support for the farming community.
